St Kateri Tekakwitha
(1656–1680) 'Lily of the Mohawks.' Mohawk-Algonquin convert in colonial New York, scarred by smallpox. She fled to a Jesuit mission in Quebec, where her brief life of prayer and penance ended at twenty-four.
