About this site

Liturgical Living is a free Catholic prayer app for iOS and Android. This site is its public reference: the liturgical calendar, the saints, complete novenas, common prayers, and apologetics — readable without installing anything.

Who makes it

Liturgical Living is built and maintained by Elco Dev, an independent developer. It is not published by, endorsed by, or affiliated with the Holy See, the USCCB, or any diocese.

Where the content comes from

• ScriptureThe World English Bible, a public-domain modern English translation, including the deuterocanonical books.
• The liturgical calendarSeasons, colors and ranks follow the General Roman Calendar. Holy days of obligation, and the rule abrogating some of them when they fall on a Saturday or Monday, follow the norms of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Dioceses differ — the Ascension in particular is observed on a Thursday in some and the following Sunday in others.
• Novenas and prayersTraditional texts in the public domain, transcribed in full rather than summarised.
• Saints' lives and apologeticsWritten for this app, with Scripture quoted in full so a reader can check the argument against the text.
• Sacred artPublic-domain works served from Wikimedia Commons, credited by artist, title and year on the page that uses them.

What this site is not

It is a reference, not an authority. For the liturgical calendar of your own diocese, for the obligation in your country, or for anything touching the sacraments in your own life, ask your parish. Where a local calendar and this one disagree, your parish is right.

Corrections

If something here is wrong — a date, a rank, a color, a saint's life — write to austin@elcodev.com and it will be fixed and rebuilt. The site regenerates daily.

Privacy

The app keeps journals and prayer intentions on the device; there is no account. The site uses Google Analytics to count page views. No prayer content carries ads.
