(1666–1736) Jeanne Delanoue, a shopkeeper of Saumur so miserly she opened on holy days, converted by a poor widow's rebuke. She turned her shop into a refuge, then founded St Anne of Providence, sheltering orphans and the destitute in caves by the Loire.
