Today (Saturday): The Joyful Mysteries
Saturday, November 7, 2026. Today the Church prays The Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary. Below are the five mysteries with their Scripture and fruit, and the plan for the rest of the week.
The Joyful Mysteries
- The Annunciation · fruit: humilityLuke 1:38 (WEB)Mary said, “Behold, the servant of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.
Mary's yes opens the door to the Incarnation. Where is God asking for your yes?
- The Visitation · fruit: love of neighborLuke 1:42 (WEB)She called out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
Carrying Christ, Mary hurries to serve. Who needs your visit this week?
- The Nativity · fruit: poverty of spiritLuke 2:7 (WEB)She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in bands of cloth and laid him in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in the inn.
God arrives with no room at the inn. Make room for him today.
- The Presentation in the Temple · fruit: obedienceLuke 2:22 (WEB)When the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were fulfilled, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord
Mary and Joseph keep the law and offer their Son. Offer God the ordinary duties of today.
- The Finding in the Temple · fruit: joy in finding JesusLuke 2:46 (WEB)After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the middle of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.
Three days of searching end in his Father's house. Seek him where he waits.
The Sorrowful Mysteries
- The Agony in the Garden · fruit: sorrow for sinLuke 22:42 (WEB)saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
Not my will, but yours. Bring him the thing you would rather not surrender.
- The Scourging at the Pillar · fruit: purityJohn 19:1 (WEB)So Pilate then took Jesus and flogged him.
He bears in his body what we have done. Thank him for it, plainly.
- The Crowning with Thorns · fruit: courageMatthew 27:29 (WEB)They braided a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they kneeled down before him and mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
The King is mocked and stays silent. Bear one small humiliation without answering back.
- The Carrying of the Cross · fruit: patienceJohn 19:17 (WEB)He went out, bearing his cross, to the place called “The Place of a Skull”, which is called in Hebrew, “Golgotha”,
He carries the cross himself. Carry today's burden beside him.
- The Crucifixion · fruit: perseveranceLuke 23:46 (WEB)Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” Having said this, he breathed his last.
Into your hands. Commend to the Father everyone you love, living and dead.
The Glorious Mysteries
- The Resurrection · fruit: faithMark 16:6 (WEB)He said to them, “Don’t be amazed. You seek Jesus, the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him!
He is not here; he is risen. Let Easter reach the place in you that still feels like a tomb.
- The Ascension · fruit: hopeActs 1:9 (WEB)When he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight.
Christ goes ahead to prepare a place. Lift your eyes to where he is.
- The Descent of the Holy Spirit · fruit: love of GodActs 2:4 (WEB)They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak.
The frightened become bold. Ask the Spirit for one gift you need today.
- The Assumption of Mary · fruit: the grace of a happy deathLuke 1:48 (WEB)for he has looked at the humble state of his servant. For behold, from now on, all generations will call me blessed.
Where Mary has gone, the Church hopes to follow. Ask her to pray for you at the hour of your death.
- The Coronation of Mary · fruit: trust in Mary's intercessionRevelation 12:1 (WEB)A great sign was seen in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.
The handmaid of the Lord is crowned. Put your intentions in a mother's hands.
The Luminous Mysteries
- The Baptism of the Lord · fruit: openness to the Holy SpiritMatthew 3:17 (WEB)Behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
This is my beloved Son. In your own baptism the Father said it of you.
- The Wedding at Cana · fruit: to Jesus through MaryJohn 2:5 (WEB)His mother said to the servants, “Whatever he says to you, do it.”
Do whatever he tells you: Mary's last recorded words. What is he telling you?
- The Proclamation of the Kingdom · fruit: conversionMark 1:15 (WEB)and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and God’s Kingdom is at hand! Repent, and believe in the Good News.”
Repent and believe. Name one thing to turn from, and one to turn toward.
- The Transfiguration · fruit: desire for holinessMatthew 17:2 (WEB)He was changed before them. His face shone like the sun, and his garments became as white as the light.
The disciples glimpse his glory before the Cross. Remember a time God felt near.
- The Institution of the Eucharist · fruit: adorationLuke 22:19 (WEB)He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in memory of me.”
This is my body, given for you. Make a spiritual communion now.
